Award Winning country Cottage based in the quiet rural hamlet of Ightfield on the Cheshire/Shropshire Border. The cottage is in a tranquil spot which overlooks the wildlife pond and is surrounded by countryside. An award winning canalside village is only 10 minutes away with shops, tea rooms and a boating marina with plenty of circular walks. The cottage is nestled in the middle of Shropshire on farmland on which we farm and graze cattle. There are two cottages; Oakpond sleeps 6 and Oaktree the little sister to Oakpond sleeps 2. The two cottages can be booked for larger families or separately for smaller groups and couples. We now provide wifi in both cottages.

The cottage is found down its own private lane, which is only shared with the owners, you will have a huge welcome from the pheasants which roam on the gardens and Macey the farm dog. Both cottages are to a high standard and have their own private water-edged gardens. The courtyard is safe for children to play in as the gardens and patio are fenced (front garden Children to be supervised) due to the wildlife pond. Oakpond and Oaktree have full central heating with Oakpond having a woodburner. On arrival you will have a welcome tray plus fresh flowers, our own free range eggs, milk and a home-made cake (weekly bookings only) which you can enjoy, whilst sitting by the pond or on the sun trap balcony in Oaktree. The pond is home to dragonflies, moorhens, ducks, squirrels, woodpeckers and owls. Our own cattle surround the cottage, whilst grazing. At night time the sound of our resident barn owl can be heard and if you are lucky, you might see the two bats flying around the pond. The cottage is not near any main roads, thus ideal for people that want peace and quiet.
For total relaxation after a long day, step inside the Frogs Retreat spa room for an invigorating massage in our luxury hydrotherapy spa tub with fantastic views over the Shropshire countryside. This spa has the ultimate soothing wave experience to hit all those aching muscles and soothe away the stresses of the day. The spa is also beneficial for people who suffer with stiff joints and arthritis. ( extra charge for this facility) Guests who do not wish to use the spa, can still unwind in the beautiful gardens around the wildlife pond.
OAKTREE COTTAGE is spacious and positively indulgent for two and is perfect for guests who are visiting Oakpond or for parents who holiday with their families but want their privacy whilst their family stay in Oakpond. Step outside from the bedroom onto the balcony which overlooks the pond and the fields and have breakfast.
We are situated on the Cheshire / Shropshire border, and close to the welsh border, thus many attractions on both sides. We have two very good pubs within a five minute drive from the cottages. Lots of local walks on the canal towpaths, Beeston Hills and the well known sandstone trail walks. A nature reserve with a circular woodland walk is only 10 minutes drive from the cottage. For the fishermen there is a fishing pool with 18 species of fish open dawn-dusk at £6 a day (5 minute drive fron cottage). There are 8 cycle ride routes on quiet lanes and country roads ranging from 6-27 miles. Both cottages have their own large private gardens and patios and a very warm welcome is made to all our guests (you are not just a number) and we are on site if any problems. There are 3 swimming pool centres close by including the Nantwich Brine Baths and the popular WaterWorld centre in Stoke. Large children's playground in the village Ightfield.
We do weekly breaks starting on a Friday/Monday. Short breaks are Mon-Fri/Fri-mon.
No smoking or pets please due to us being a working farm
