Oakpond

Oakpond is a warm and cosy cottage with fantastic views over the Shropshire countryside as well as the many birds around the pond. The cottage is ideal for couples and families who just want peace and tranquility. There are lots of local attractions from 15-25 minutes away as well as 3 fishing ponds and 4 golf courses.

Oakpond sleeps 6 people and has 3 bedrooms, bathroom ( Electric shower over bath) games room, lounge,kitchen and outdoor heated washroom and wc. Outdoor laundry room. Spa/tub room with electric shower.


LOUNGE

Lounge in the self-catering cottage

Cosy lounge  with exposed beams. The suite has a three seater sofa and three armchairs and foot stool which sit in front of the woodburner. A nest of tables and a book cabinet, which holds some good books if you are a reader. A storage cupboard to the side of the fire and a leaded glass cabinet which houses the large flat screen TV with freeview and DVD player. The front window has views over the garden and pond, whilst the two side windows has views of the wild flower border and the regosa and honeysuckle fence. On arrival the fire is made up and this includes one large basket of logs, starter wood and paper During the summer months the scent of the honeysuckle fills the lounge.


KITCHEN

Oakpond Cottage kitchen with pond view

Through the wicker gate and up the garden path you will enter OakPond through a stained glass door into the hall way, where the cottage cat door will welcome you into the kitchen. The kitchen has a fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, iron and iron board, CD player, flat screen digital TV/dvd with free view and a double oven and extractor set into pine kitchen units. Enjoy the views from the kitchen sink and the French doors which open onto the garden/ fenced patio which overlooks the wildlife pond and fields. A solid pine table with seating for six people ( will seat 8 people) and the farmhouse dresser where the games and jigsaws live. The flooring is old quarry tiles.


ROOM ONE

Oakpond Cottage double room

This is a spacious double bedroom which  has views from the front window of the pond and fields and views of the fields from the side window. The double cast iron bed has dorma old country roses bedding edged with lace with matching curtains. An old oak wardrobe and dressing table compliment this room. Thick fluffy towels are provided. Carpeted floor with double radiator. This room is best suited for people needing the cot.


ROOM TWO

Oakpond Cottage double room

This is a snug  room for 2 people with views over the court yard, fields, chickens  and flower troughs. A very old double Edwardian bed complete with its original spring base with dorma light cream bedding with embroidered flowers with edges of lace with matching curtains. Antique dressing table and built in wardrobe with shelves suit this room with two bedside tables. Carpeted floor with single radiator. Thick fluffy towels provided.


ROOM THREE

Oakpond Cottage twin room

From the hallway climb the wooden spindled stairs onto the landing into the twin room. This room has  views over the pond and fields from the window. The bedding is quality dorma bedding in dainty primrose yellow colours with matching curtains. This is a cosy room with plenty of storage space under the eaves. An Edwardian wardrobe, dressing table, storage table and two bedside cabinets compliment this room. Thick fluffy towels are provided. Carpeted floor with double radiator. There is space under the eaves for a small cot.

BATHROOM

This room is decorated in oriental ginger tones and comprises of white suite with electric shower over the bath and a sink and wc. Views over the court yard and chickens. Electric shower point and storage cupboard.


SNUG

Oakpond Cottage games room

This room  has views of the regosa and honeysuckle fence and archway from the window. This room has a pool table, a comfy leather reading chair to view the TV/dvd with free view (ideal if children, etc would like to view their own TV) . A small childrens play table and chairs are also kept in this room. The flooring has the original wooden flooring with carpet on top. One radiator on the wall.


Garden

Oakpond Cottage pond

From the enclosed courtyard, walk through the little wicker gate into your first lawned garden, with a very old pear tree and various shrubs nestled against the cottage wall, this is a well fenced area for children as well as the courtyard. Approach the rose archway and go through another wicker gate and this will lead you into your second garden which leads towards the wildlife pond (toddlers beware) This garden is home to fruit trees, shrubs and rambling honeysuckle. Garden seats are placed around the pond, for you to enjoy the wildlife surrounding the pool such as the moorhens, ducks and dragonfly.  As darkness falls, the gardens and pond come to life with lights, which looks magical at night-time.

From the kitchens French doors you will step onto a large fenced patio, with table and chairs, with superb views of the countryside and pond.

Utility Room

This room is an information room regarding places to visit and walking maps. the washing machine lives in this room and also the DVD library. Extra space to dry wet coats and walking boots and store various items. Tiled floor with double radiator. Can also dry clothes as very warm.

FROGS RETREAT (SPA ROOM)

A romantic room with mood lighting and tea lights for those long cold frosty nights in wintertime or light and breezy for summer days. The spa room has a wall of glass with french doors which open out onto the wildlife pond and countryside which can be viewed from the  luxury hydrotherapy spa. The spa has mood lighting/waterfall and foot massagers. Each seat  has a selection of therapy jets which offer a truly invigorating massage. An old antique mirror hangs above the spa with a selection of romantic candles as well as a table and 4 chairs for refreshments. There is also a shower, this is used before and after using the spa with towels supplied. There is a large radiator on the wall, this is for extra warmth for wintertime use. The floor has non slip tiles. ( no children under 5 years to use the spa due to health and safety regulation)

The spa is available from 9am until 9pm ( this gives us time to comply with HSE REGULATIONS to check the water and to allow for any testing to be carried out.
