Oakpond

Outside the self-catering cottage

Oakpond is a warm and cosy cottage with fantastic views over the Shropshire countryside as well as the many birds around the pond. The cottage is ideal for couples and families who just want peace and tranquility. There are lots of local attractions from 15-25 minutes away as well as 3 fishing ponds and 3 golf courses.

Oakpond sleeps 6 people and has 3 bedrooms, bathroom (shower over bath) games room, lounge and kitchen.


Lounge

Lounge in the self-catering cottage

Cosy lounge set in wine and cream colours with exposed beams. The suite has a three seater sofa and three armchairs and foot stool which sit in front of the woodburner. A nest of tables and a book cabinet, which holds some good books if you are a reader. A storage cupboard to the side of the fire and a leaded glass cabinet which houses the large flat screen TV with freeview and DVD player. The front window has views over the garden and pond, whilst the two side windows has views of the wild flower border and the regosa and honeysuckle fence. On arrival the fire is made up and this includes one large basket of logs, starter wood and paper During the summer months the scent of the honeysuckle fills the lounge.


Kitchen

Through the wicker gate and up the garden path you will enter OakPond through a stained glass door into the hall way, where the cottage cat door will welcome you into the kitchen. The kitchen has a fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, iron and iron board, cd player, flat screen digital tv with free view and a double oven and extractor set into pine kitchen units. Enjoy the views from the kitchen sink as well as the French doors which open onto the garden. A solid pine table with seating for six people and the farmhouse dresser where the games and jigsaws live. The flooring is old quarry tiles.


Double Room

This is a spacious bedroom which  has views from the front window of the pond and views of the fields from the side window. The double cast iron bed has dorma old country roses bedding edged with lace with matching curtains. An old oak wardrobe and dressing table compliment this room. Thick fluffy towels are provided. Carpeted floor with double radiator.


Second Double Bedroom

This is a quaint bedroom  with views over the court yard  and flower troughs. A very old double edwardian bed complete with its original spring base with dorma light cream bedding with embroidered flowers with edges of lace with matching curtains. Antique dressing table and built in wardrobe with shelves suit this room with two bedside tables. Carpeted floor with single radiator. Thick fluffy towels provided.


Twin Bedroom

From the hallway climb the wooden spindled stairs onto the landing into the twin room. This room has  views over the pond from the window. The bedding is quality dorma bedding in dainty primrose yellow colours with matching curtains. This is a cosy room with plenty of storage space under the eaves. A wardrobe, dressing table, storage table and two bedside cabinets compliment this room. Thick fluffy towels are provided. Carpeted floor with double radiator.

Family Bathroom

This room is decorated in oriental ginger tones and comprises of white suite with shower over the bath. Views over the court yard.


Games Room

This room  has views of the regosa and honeysuckle fence and archway from the window. This room has a pool table, a comfy leather reading chair to view the TV with free view. We also use this room for guests to hang their coats and store their shoes. The flooring has the original wooden flooring with carpet on top. One radiator on the wall.


Garden

From the enclosed courtyard, walk through the little wicker gate into your first lawned garden, with a very old pear tree and various shrubs nestled against the cottage wall, this is a well fenced area for children as well as the courtyard. Approach the rose archway and go through another wicker gate and this will lead you into your second garden which leads towards the wildlife pond (toddlers beware) This garden is home to fruit trees, shrubs and rambling honeysuckle. Garden seats are placed around the pond, for you to enjoy the wildlife surrounding the pool. As darkness falls, the gardens and pond come to life with lights, which looks magical at night-time.

From the kitchens French doors you will step onto a large fenced patio, with table and chairs, with superb views of the countryside and pond.
