The cottage has wonderful gardens which has three large apple trees and the wildlife pond which is home to a lot of animals and birds. The courtyard is well fenced for children and dogs and there is a pleasant walk down the lane which is private and only used by ourselves and the cottage guests. The front garden is well fenced and secure for dogs but the back garden with the wildlife pond is not but the patio is fenced.
The yard is safe and secure for cars and there is parking space for two cars for the guests of this cottage. Please let us know if there are more cars arriving as we do have our other cottage guests car to cater for.
THE FROGS RETREAT
In this indoor room lives our 7 seater hydrotherapy hot tub which is very relaxing after a days walking or sight seeing. The bromine we use is a lot kinder than chlorine and does not have that strong odour. Guests can book the spa when booking the cottage and we can then prepare the spa ready for use. The hot tub is private and not shared and so early booking is advisable.
THE AREA AND LOCATION
We are very lucky to have so many lovely places to visit as we are on the Cheshire/Shropshire Border.
Cheshire Border. The fantastic walks including the Sandstone Trail Walk with the hills and follies to the Cheshire Plains and not forgetting Delemere Forest. There are a number of National Trust Houses and gardens and the countrys largest ice cream parlour.
Shropshire Border. We have the Shropshire hills and villageside canals including Hawkestone Follies and Haughmond Forest walks. There are a number of National Trust Houses and gardens as well as two great nature reserves which are home to many birds and wildlife. The cottage is only 40 minutes from the world famous IronBridge museums.
Staffordshire Border. Within 20 minutes and you are in Staffordshire which is well known for its pottery museums such as Coalport and Wedgewood. The Cannock Chase is a beautiful walk as well as Trentham Gardens and Biddulph Grange Gardens. The Monkey Forest and Go Ape are both worth a visit.
Welsh Border. Travel for 30 minutes and you are in a different world with the mountains and hills of Wales. Llangollen is a scenic town with its steam railway and horse drawn barges. The British ironworks and the waterfall are both worth a visit as well as Powys and Chirk Castles.
We welcome one behaved dog in this cottage. The cottage also has a back garden which is well fenced and is safe and secure for dogs and this is leading from the back door as well as the large courtyard. The front garden which leads towards the pond is not suitable for dogs as we have our moorhens roaming free in the front lawn and will not take kindly to dogs and it is not dog prood unlike the back garden. Our private drive way is lovely for a 10 minute walk and a lot of birds and wildlife can be spotted on route and this drive is only shared with ourselves. There is a 12 acre field adjoining the drive way and this can be used to exercise your dog as well (not to be used when we have cattle grazing). Audlem is only 10 minutes away with 8 circular walks with tearooms on the way as well as Brown Moss Nature Reserve which has woodland walks and three good eating places nearby.
The only thing we ask our guests is not to allow your dog upstairs (stairgate provided). Doggy charge is £35 pw
