Welcome to Oakpond Cottages

Three lovely home from home self catering cottages in the Heart of Rural North Shropshire

Oakpond (sleeps 6 & dog friendly)

Oaktree (sleeps 2)

Oakwood (sleeps 4 & dog friendly)

Bev and Mark welcome you to their home from home self catering country farm cottages which are based near Whitchurch in North Shropshire.  We have two lovely dog friendly cottages and an award winning no pets cottage which are a perfect base for exploring  Staffordshire and the Welsh borders as well as Cheshire and Shropshire.  There is a national cycle route at the end of our drive which has 6 scenic cycle rides or walks down country lanes with lovely country pubs and tea rooms on route including Grinsall Woods  with its lovely sandstone walk to the summit.

We have two good dog friendly pubs which is within 5 minutes drive as well as an  indian restaurant who will deliver to the cottages.  Our local community run pub the White Lion  has a lovely walk from its door down to Brown Moss Nature Reserve and then there is The Olde Jack Inn which can be walked to down a footpath which starts in Ightfield village.

Our family cottages Oakpond and Oakwood are both dog friendly with a safe and secure garden in each cottage with walks from the door are both perfect for couples as well. Oakpond and Oaktree can be booked together to sleep 8 people which is ideal for nans and grandads who want to be close by to their family but they have their own privacy.
An information pack with places to visit and whats on in the area will be sent to you prior to your holiday.

All our reviews and comments are posted on our facebook page.

Wifi is available in all cottages.

We also have a very relaxing indoor hydrotherapy hot tub which is private and is available to hire.

Within 30 minutes are Attingham Park, Erdigg, Sunnycroft and Benthal House and the superb gardens at Biddulph Grange and only 5 minutes from the Combermere Abbey.

We are very lucky to have two charming gardens to visit which are Wollerton Gardens and Hodnet Hall Gardens and only 10 minutes away. Hawkestone Follies is also another gem to visit with its caves and follies as well as the Dorothy Clive Gardens.

For the walkers we have the countrys most important nature reserve Brown Moss with its woodland walks and lakes and the Famous Sandstone Trail starting from Whitchurch. In the village there are footpaths with one leading to a very good pub which still has its traditional charm. All within 10 minutes away.

Alton Towers is only an hour away and Ironbridge is 40 minutes with Raf Cosford on route.

Oakpond and Oaktree cottages sit in an idylic setting  amongst 103 acres of Shropshire countryside overlooking its own wildlife pond which is perfect for couples and families that require peace and quiet. Oakwood is a lovely country bungalow located in the village in a very quiet spot with no passing traffic with walks from the door.

The cottages are near to the beautiful and scenic canalside village of Audlem with its shops and tearooms and not forgetting the lovely circular walks which are perfect for dogs.  Our nearest town is Whitchurch which is an old market town and Nature Reserves with wonderful countryside walks.

Guests are most welcome to walk down to our farm and visit the animals which include cattle, horses and our lovely 3 rescue dogs. Horses are most welcome as we have some lovely lanes to hack down as well as the local farm ride  gallops (which can be hacked to)

We do accept two dogs in Oakwood and one dog in Oakpond.   We do offer a dog sitting service on the farm.  Dogs are treated as valued guests with a welcome basket of treats, towels and throwovers whilst our human guests are treated with a home-made cake and free range eggs from our hens (when still laying).

Please do phone or email us for our availability on the cottages and we will get back to you as soon as we can.  Booking is direct with us and not through an agent therefore no booking fees and you will not be treated as a number.

We will be collecting donations throughout the year in aid of the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund who are celebrating their 40th aniversary in 2019 and there are numerous prizes to be won. Please look at our booking page for more information.
