Oakwood Cottage is a lovely spacious pet friendly cottage in Shropshire sitting on a quiet spot in the village with no passing traffic. The cottage has footpaths from the door onto the Shropshire Way and there is also a hardstanding mile long footpath to the Old Jack Inn which is dog friendy and serves great food. The cottage sleeps upto four people and we welcome two dogs in this property and a second dog is free of charge. The large garden is safe and secure for children and dogs with 6 foot fencing. There is safe and secure parking for 2 cars only. On wednesday evenings, the village is alive with the sound of church bells ringing from the beautiful church St Johns on bell practice ringing night and is a delight to hear.
Oakwood is central for Cheshire/Shropshire/Staffordshire and Wales and so there are many places to visit, such as the world famous Ironbridge and nine National Trust Houses and Gardens. We are fortunate to live close by to a wonderful nature reserve with woodland walks and the award winning canalside village of Audlem with its circular walks and tearooms. Whitchurch is our nearest town which is a lovely town with many shops and supermarkets including Tesco and Sainsburys who will deliver to the cottage. For the walkers, there are twelve lovely scenic walks starting from Whitchurch ranging from 2.5-15 miles long.
For the gardeners, we have Wolerton Gardens, Dorothy Clive Gardens, Bridgemere Garden World and Hodnet Hall and Gardens within half an hour away as well as the Hawkestone Follies.
Please look at our cottages facebook and google pages for all our reviews which have kindly been written by guests who have stayed with us.

The cottage is rural but only 10 minutes away from an award-winning canalside village and 2 lovely towns (Nantwich and Whitchurch ) as well as the beautiful Brown Moss Nature Reserve who has the Chef in the wood who sells very tasty home-made pies and pasties. Oakwood is perfect for people who require peace and quiet but not too far away from the hustle and bustle of the local towns and villages. This is a perfect base for exploring the many places which this lovely part of Shropshire has to offer.
A lovely private garden with trees and shrubs. This garden is safe and secure for children and dogs as the fencing is 6 foot high. The garden furniture is put out during the spring and summer months which is lovely for outdoor eating.
There are two private parking spaces infront of Oakwood.
We love dogs as we have three rescue dogs ourselves. Two dogs are most welcome at Oakwood but we would ask guests to keep them off the furniture and beds and not to leave them alone in the cottage as dogs can stress in strange surroundings and damage may occur. Please let us know if you require a dog sitter. There is a circular walk from Oakwood which passes the church as well as two footpaths which will take you onto the Shropshire Way trails and to the White Lion at Ash. The village has now got a link up pathway between Ightfield and Calverhall and this leads to The Olde Jack Inn which is very dog friendly and they serve tasty FP (farmer portions) meals.
The wifi is free and has a strong signal as the village is on fibre network.
