Glamping In Shropshire
Maggie is nestled in rural Shropshire and is a world away from the bright lights and fast pace of modern life.
The wagon was used for the clowns and fortune tellers at the circus and was horse-drawn by one of the circus horses on their travels. The hand-painted ceiling has illustrations of horses who belonged to the gypsy who lived in this wagon with his pet parrot. We found many sunflower seeds under the flooring when renovating!
Maggie lives on her own in a private secluded space overlooking our Shropshire fields with our three pet sheep – One Eye, Boss Hogg and Junior – as neighbours and the many rabbits and birds.
There’s a double memory foam bed (4ft 2in wide x 6ft 2in long) with quality bedding to ensure a good night’s sleep.
The gypsy table is perfect for playing cards and board games and offers fine views of the sunrises we have whilst you are having your morning cup of coffee.
Outside, you’ll find a bespoke balcony which has comfortable seating illuminated by fairy lights, and where guests will hear bird song, the occasional ‘moo’ in the distance and the the ‘hoot’ of our resident barn owl. Guests have the option of using our very relaxing hot tub which is perfect after a good days walking and is totally private and not shared and is perfect in all weathers.
The Fluffy Butt Hut
The Fluffy Butt Hut is situated next to Maggie and is where our guests can cook, eat, relax and even watch a good film whilst watching the world go by in the cuddle chair made for two. It’s well equipped with cooking utensils and has a two-ring hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge. We also supply complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits, cooking oil and home-made cake.
The Hen Coop
The wagon’s guests have their own private bathroom in a separate building – just a few steps away. There’s a flushing toilet (not compost) and a spacious shower cubicle. The room has central heating and there are also facilities for washing pots and pans. We supply washing-up liquid, soap and tea towels.
Outside
A lovely old rocking chair for two is next to the beautiful buddleia bushes with their many visiting butterflies. A picnic table and chairs is found outside the Fluffy Butt Hut for al fresco meals among the fairy lights and under the stars. We have dark skies with a lot of stars and so no street lights and traffic noise here.
Wi-Fi
There is a Wi-Fi signal in our cottages’ car park and maybe where Maggie is located. ( we have had guests who have got the wifi on the wagon site) There is a good phone signal.
Parking
Cars can be parked in our cottages’ yard and not next to the wagon.
Hot Tub
Guests have the option of hiring the Frog’s Retreat which houses our five-seater electric hot tub. This room is private with a glazed French door that opens to fine views of our fields, our cattle and the many birds that live on our farm. This room has overhead coloured lighting and is central-heated during the cooler months – so there’s no getting out in the cold night air. The hot tub is kept at 38 degrees at all times, unlike a wood-fired hot tub where you have to wait for it to warm up, and even then it might not be warm enough. Our hot tub has two very relaxing loungers, a host of jets and a waterfall. Please let us know when booking Maggie if you require this facility as we will have to prepare the hot tub for you prior to arrival.
Please do not use this hot tub if you have a fake tan as this will contaminate the water and damage the pump and jets. We will then have to add a cleaner through the jets, turn it off, drain the water and clean the tub and jets. There would be a maintenance fee of £75 to cover this.
Smoking And Candles
Strictly no smoking or candles in the wagon. the hut or in the immediate surrounding area.
Laundry Room
Ponder through the DVD library and select one of the many good films to watch. There is also a fridge-freezer in this room if guests require it. Coats and suitcases can also be kept here as well as muddy boots after a long day’s walking. There is a coin-operated washing machine for guests to use and proceeds go to a local dog rescue charity.
