Please note that this cottage is attached to Oakpond but we only let out one side at a time, unless both are booked by the same family – therefore, you’re assured of complete privacy and seclusion

patio

Kitchen/Diner

A very spacious beamed kitchen-diner which has a fridge-freezer, microwave, electric oven and slow cooker. There are wonderful countryside views from every window, plus a lovely reading area – perfect for planning your next day out.

Lounge

With its wonderful views, Oaktree’s lounge is a perfect room for relaxing. Its French doors open onto the large patio and gardens. There’s a very comfortable sofa, reclining reading chair, 32″ Freeview TV with DVD, and a good selection of DVDs and books. A lovely smoke-effect woodburner is perfect for those winter nights.

The cottage (it’s on the right of the photo, the one with the balcony) is rural but only 10 minutes away from the canalside village of Audlem. Nantwich and Whitchurch are lovely towns for shopping and eating. Brown Moss nature reserve has woodland walks and is perfect for bird spotting. The nearest pubs are our village pub, The Olde Jack Inn, and the community-owned White Lion, which has a walking trail to Brown Moss and was voted Best Country Pub in 2023 – both are dog friendly. Whitchurch’s Spice Heaven Indian restaurant deliver to the cottage.

Bedroom

A lovely bedroom with a scenic walk-out balcony which overlooks the countryside and pond. The very comfortable king-size bed with quality Egyptian bedding ensures a good night’s sleep. A charming country dressing table and antique wash stand makes this room very homely.

Bathroom

The bathroom has views over the courtyard and fields, a luxury spacious shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.

Laundry Room

The cottage’s laundry room can be used to dry your washed clothes – and your boots and coats after a wet country walk. We charge £4 for use of the washing machine and this includes up to four washes, with all monies being donated to a local dog rescue charity. Maps and information are also kept in this room, as well as the DVD library, whilst it can also be used as secure storage for bikes.

We are very fortunate to be close to a wonderful nature reserve with woodland trails and the award-winning canalside village of Audlem with its lovely canalside walks and tea rooms. The cottage is convenient for Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Wales. There are nine National Trust houses and gardens within 25 miles, plus Hawkestone Park Follies, Wollerton Old Hall Garden and Hodnet Hall Gardens. Bridgemere Garden World (said to be the UK’s largest garden centre), Dagfields Crafts & Antiques Centre and the Dorothy Clive Garden are all within half an hour’s drive. The Shopshire Way can be walked locally, as well as the scenic Sandstone Trail.

The Gardens

Beautiful private gardens with a large patio, fruit trees and wildlife pond with wonderful views of the countryside.

Parking

Safe parking outside the cottage.

Area & Location

From the Cheshire Plains and Delemere Forest to the canalside village of Audlem – with its quaint tea rooms and eight circular canalside walks – and the beautiful Brown Moss and Melverley Meadows nature reserves. On the Staffordshire border there’s the Wedgewood and Coalport museums and also the lovely Trentham Gardens & Monkey Forest. The Welsh border is only 40 minutes away with its rugged hills, Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall (one of the UK’s tallest) and Llangollen with its steam trains and horse-drawn barges. There are six very good cycle routes in and around the village.
